Navarra de Medio Ambiente Industrial, S.A. is a public company
attached to the Regional De-partment of Environment and Spatial
Planning of the Government of Navarre whose corporate purpose
is the promotion of activities related to management, research
and technological devel-opment, and recycling of industrial
waste considered by current legislation as toxic, hazardous,
special, non-dangerous or inert, and any other complementary,
accessory and auxiliary activities that may be required to
fulfil the corporate purpose.
a) Operations of collection, storage,
transport, treatment, recovery and elimination of waste
products.
b) The promotion of public and private
industrial activities aimed at prevention, research, technological
development, minimization, recycling and valuation of waste.
c) The preparation and performance of agreements
with bodies that belong to or are at-tached or linked to
other Public Authorities, with a view to the drawing up,
execution and ad-ministration of waste management plans,
programmes or projects.
d) The formalisation of agreements with
other public bodies or private companies for bet-ter waste
management and technical assistance and services.
e) Participation in national or international
organisms whose aim is the drawing up of plans, programmes
or waste management projects or research.
a) ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
The objective is the start-up, development, coordination
and monitoring of initiatives that aim to improve environmental
management in companies in Navarre.
Its a technical area structured in different working parties:
• Environmental promotion in businesses
•Support for companies in environmental

Sectoral Institutions and Associations.
• Environmental information and
training for companies
• R&D+I Projects
The objective is to promote, disseminate and drive
R&D+I projects within the field of environ-mental management
to improve the competitiveness of the business sector in
Navarre.
b) The RECYCLING PROMOTION BUREAU
‘Opr’ is an initiative promoted by the Department
of the Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing through
namainsa, with the aim of improving the integral management
of waste pro-duced in the autonomous Community of Navarre
The main objective is to offer a service to all
companies in Navarre aimed at promoting the minimum use,
re-use and recycling of waste:
• Promoting the separation of waste
and the optimisation of productive processes
• Strengthening the recycling sector
and promoting the consumption of recycled products and raw
materials
• Looking for alternatives to current
environmental management situations, reintroducing waste
into the economic cycle.

c) PROJECTS AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS.
Its work focuses on two type of actions:
• Environmental Recovery of degraded
areas
• Technical-economic viability
studies of environmental installations
The Objectives of Waste disposal site environmental recovery
is:
• Environmental recovery of landfills
that cannot be adapted to the provisions of Royal Degree
1480/2001
• Environmental recovery of polluted
soils and the conditioning of new operational phases in
facilities indicated in the Waste Management Master Plan.
The work done consists on:
• Hydrogeological studies
• Pollution analysis
• Impact analysis
• Recovery and/or conditioning alternative studies
• Selection and evaluation of the best alternative
d) ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTION AND CONTROL
Namainsa collaborates in the promotion and carrying out
of environmental studies, and in the control and evaluation
of pollution in the fields of water, discharges, waste and
polluted soils
The work done basically sets out to cover the demands placed
by the Department of the Envi-ronment, Territorial Planning
and Housing of the Government of Navarre in the area of
envi-ronmental control.
To cover this demand NAMAINSA carries out the following
activities:
• sampling
• studies to describe contamination
• studies to monitor the evolution
of contamination
• environmental hazard studies
Demonstration and pilot experience of a system for the decontamination
and recycling of VFUs. Implementation in Navarre (Pamplona
council) Decontamination and recycling LIFE99 ENV/e/000375.
